FAQ What are the Prerequisites to join the Malka Photo Workshops? Simply to be passionate, to want to discover, travel with a purpose, experience new adventures, new cultures, the light, shadows and to simply photograph them in order to tell your own story. To want to discover, understand, and share with other people like you and to create new friendships. How are the photo workshops structured? The photo workshops are composed of various steps, such as one day of technical information and instructions before leaving and portfolio presentations and critiques after our return that could be done online. During the trip, there will be meetings to revise the work of the travelers and to brainstorm and exchange ideas every night during and after dinner. What kind of camera should I use? Due to the nature of the expeditions, a digital camera is necessary. We suggest a digital SLR as well as a small but higher resolution point and shoot for certain situations. You will also need digital memory cards and a card reader; manuals, installation disks and drivers, power adapters and corresponding cables as well as batteries for your digital cameras. We also recommend a light tripod. What kind of equipment should I bring? Laptop: PC or MAC. You will need a laptop in order to store and organize your images and be able to edit. It should be equipped with a CD/DVD burner, a minimum of 1GB of RAM, Photoshop (latest version if possible), Lightroom, blank DVDs or CDs and at least one external mini hard drive 120 Gigs (easy to carry). BACK UP IS CRUCIAL! A back up battery is also recommended, power adapters and cables. How large are the groups? The expeditions will be made up of groups between 10 and 14 people. All meals and accommodations will be supplied according to the corresponding itineraries. Travel Insurance? We request that all the participants carry travel insurance. Various plans are available in your country of origin. We recommend a plan with Cancellation insurance and luggage loss coverage, medical insurance with an emergency evacuation plan in order to get to the nearest hospital or out of the country if needed.
